Former DMV Worker Pleads Guilty To Stealing $80k

She used a computer loophole to pocket cash from transactions.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A former DMV worker is facing two-and-a-half years in prison after she pleaded guilty to stealing $80,000 through a automobile registration loophole.

Kimberly Brown filed registrations as being gifted by family members instead of being purchased as part of a sale. She would then pocket the taxes, according to the Connecticut Post. She also voided transactions and pocketed the cash.

Thefts were discovered during a computer system audit. She worked at the Norwalk and Bridgeport offices. Brown was fired in December.
