Suspect Captured In Bridgeport Shooting; Held On $500,000 Bond
Thomas Laporte is accused of shooting a man in the leg several times during an altercation last month.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — The suspect in the March 8 shooting of a 52-year-old Bridgeport man is in custody, and is being held in lieu of bail of $500,000, according to authorities.
Thomas Laporte, 48, was arrested by Bridgeport police on March 27, and has been charged with first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, and carrying a pistol without a permit.
He was at-large for nearly three weeks following the shooting; details of the arrest were not disclosed.

The shooting occurred on Iranistan Avenue in the afternoon of March 8, and the victim suffered multiple leg wounds.
Laporte is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on May 24.
