Teachers Protest School Working Conditions In Bridgeport: Reports
A crowd, estimated in the hundreds, rallied in front of City Hall in Bridgeport this week.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A rally in front of Bridgeport City Hall on Tuesday drew hundreds of teachers and parents to protest working and educational conditions in Bridgeport Public Schools, News 12 Connecticut and the Connecticut Post reported.
Protestors said the school year, so far, has been distressful and chaotic, with a lack of resources, inadequate classroom support, and a disruptive change to school start times after the year had begun, among other issues.
After the rally, Schools Superintendent Dr. Carmela Levy-David issued the following statement, in which she asked for patience and understanding from the staff:

I was looking forward to attending to today’s rally, but I did not after being advised by city police not to attend out of concern for my safety.
District leadership is committed to maintaining open lines of communication and fostering a collaborative environment. We are actively listening to the feedback provided and are taking these concerns seriously. Our priority remains the educational excellence and safety of our students, and we believe that working together is essential to achieving this goal.
In the coming weeks, we will be organizing a series of meetings and focus groups to engage with teachers, staff, students, and parents. These sessions will provide an opportunity for open dialogue, where all stakeholders can share their perspectives and contribute to a constructive path forward. We also encourage our stakeholders to email us at talktous@bridgeportedu.net to express their concerns.
We appreciate the dedication and passion of our teachers and are committed to addressing their concerns in a transparent and respectful manner. Together, we can continue to build a supportive and thriving educational environment for all.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Sincerely,
Dr. Carmela Levy-David
