BROOKFIELD, CT — On Nov. 7, Brookfield residents cast their votes for several key municipal positions. Contested races include first selectman, and seats on the Board of Education and Board of Finance.

Polls in Connecticut are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. You can use the Secretary of State’s website to find your polling place. Voters who are in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

Connecticut also allows for Election Day registration at designated centers in each town. People must be registered by 8 p.m. in order to vote using Election Day registration. To receive your absentee ballot, complete and sign an application and return it to your town clerk, or you can request an absentee ballot online.

Selectman — Vote for One

Bob Belden is running as an unaffiliated candidate. Joseph J. Rondini is the Republican candidate.

Town Clerk — Vote for One

Democrat Andrea DiStephan is running against Republican Gary Goetz.

Town Treasurer — Vote for One

The Democratic candidate is John Lucas. Robert Guarino is on the Republican ticket.

Board of Finance — Vote for Up to Two

The Democratic candidates are Brian Hoffman and Naheed Quaisar. Agnieszka Stepniak and Andrew Koehm are the Republican candidates.

Board of Education — Vote for Up to Four (Not More Than Two From One Party)

The Democratic candidates are Stephanie Sikora and Wendy Youngblood. The Republican candidates are Robert Fischetto, Sarah Devine, Austin Monteiro and Monique Matthews.

Board of Assessment Appeals, Full Term — Vote for One

The Democratic candidate is Julie Kerton. Elliot C. Morales is on the Republican ticket.

Board of Assessment Appeals, to Fill Vacancy for Two Years — Vote for One

The Democratic candidate is Shannon Riley. Christopher Donnelly is the Republican candidate.

Planning Commission — Vote for Up to Two

The Democratic candidates are Courtney Knapp and Scott Dale. Gregory Petriccione is the Republican candidate.

Zoning Commission, Full Term — Vote for Up to Two

The Democratic candidates are Sean Turner and Anthony Papucci. Morris Badoud and Dionisio Fontana are the Republican candidates.

Zoning Commission, to Fill Vacancy for Two Years — Vote for One

The Democratic candidate is Jeff Kass. Bishendra M. Komar is on the Republican ticket.

Zoning Board of Appeals — Vote for Up to Two

The Democratic candidates are Elijah Huling III and Richard S. Briggs. Liam J. Enea and Leanna Hinger are the Republican candidates.


There are four Yes/No Questions related to the Town Charter on the ballot:

Q 1. "Shall Addendum A of the Charter be amended to allow the Board of Assessment Appeals to have three alternate members?"

Q 2: "Shall Charter Sections § C3-2, § C7-6, and Addendums A and B be amended to combine the Planning and Zoning Commissions and to consist of seven (7) members and three (3) alternates?"

Q 3: "Shall the Youth Commission appointments in Addendum A III F of the Charter be revised to reflect town ordinance § 72-2?"

Q 4: "Shall clarifications pertaining to textual terms and definitions in town finances be made to the following sections? • Section § C3-2 C (definition of Town Treasurer to conform with Connecticut General Statutes) • Section § C8-1 C (fiscal year accounting updating “books and accounts” to “financial statements”) • Section § C8-2 A, D (preparation of budget – remove printed newspaper requirement) • Section § C8-5 A, E (special appropriations and transfers of appropriations – language updating “cash surplus” to “fund balance”)"
