FEMA Comes to Brookfield
During the immediate aftermath of the May 15 macroburst, 91 percent of Brookfield residents were left without power.

BROOKFIELD, CT -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency is in Brookfield today to assess the damage left behind by May's savage storm, after agreeing to assist with preliminary damage assessment last week, News8 reported.
The town previously reached out to citizens requesting assistance in substantiating their claims, asking residents and business property owners to submit pictures of damage to structures on their property. They have since expanded their online form to allow residents to send up to 10 pictures and to report their best estimate of insured and uninsured property loss.
During the immediate aftermath of the storm, 91 percent of Brookfield residents were left without power. Some were without power for up to ten days. NBC has reported that the official albeit preliminary assessment provided by the town to FEMA specifies that 40 percent of all single family homes were damaged, 10 homes were destroyed, 29 homes suffered major damage and 340 homes received minor damage, totaling an estimated $33-48 million of property damage.
