Beloved Cheshire Teacher’s Cause Of Death Released
The state's chief medical examiner has released the cause of death for a beloved Cheshire teacher who was found dead last month.

CHESHIRE, CT — The death of a beloved Cheshire teacher has been ruled accidental. The state’s chief medical examiner has ruled Megumi Yamamoto, 48, of Cheshire, died of an accidental combination of drug intoxication and drowning in a creek, according to NBC Connecticut.
The Hartford Courant reports the overdose was caused by a prescription opioid and several medications that are commonly found in cold medicines. Yamamoto’s body was found on Oct. 3 after police began investigating a missing person complaint in the area of Mixville Road by Marion Avenue in Cheshire.
Yamamoto was named Cheshire Teacher of the Year in 2011 and a finalist for Connecticut Teacher of the Year. Yamamoto, a mother of two, was an English teacher at Cheshire High School and had also taught at Albertus Magnus College.
