CHESHIRE, CT — Cheshire Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles and take the necessary precautions to avoid becoming the victim of a crime.
“Over the past several years, communities around the state have experienced numerous thefts from motor vehicles,” police said in a press release. “The Town of Cheshire is no different. The majority of these thefts occur during the overnight hours, but this crime occurs at all times throughout the day.”
Police say the thefts continue to be a “crime of opportunity” and the perpetrators are looking for vehicles with unsecure doors, windows left down, valuables left in sight and keys in the vehicle.
