Reassignment Of Cheshire Parks & Rec Workers Criticized: Report

The move is being proposed to help save money.

CHESHIRE, CT — A proposal in Cheshire to reassign four Parks & Recreation employees to Public Works is being criticized by the chairman of the town's Parks & Rec Commission, reports the New Haven Register.

Town Manager Michael Milone is looking to make the change to save money in the upcoming budget. Additionally, a supervisor's position, which is currently vacant, would not be filled.

James Nankin, chairman of the town's Parks & Recreation Commission, however, doesn't like the plan, because he sees it as the first step in the eventual dismantling of the department.
