Boughton Collapsed Because He Did Not Take Seizure Meds: Doctors

Boughton's campaign originally attributed his March 15 collapse in Avon to dehydration.

DANBURY, CT — Doctors for Connecticut gubernatorial candidate and Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton gave their patient a clean bill of health today at a press conference held by the campaign in Hartford, saying his prognosis is "excellent." Boughton's health had been called into question when he collapsed at an event on March 15 in Avon.

Boughton's campaign originally blamed his collapse on dehydration. Today his doctors explained that his collapse was a result of Boughton failing to take several doses of the anti-seizure medication, Keppra. They clarified that Bouhgton was indeed dehydrated, and that dehydration may make a seizure more likely.

"He is confident that he is fit to continue his career," Taylor O'Brien, public relations coordinator for the Danbury Mayor's office, told The Patch. "He is feeling good about it, he has been working all day. He came back right away, he started working that weekend."
