Danbury Man Gets 10 Years For Heading Drug Ring

Demetrios "Jimmy" Papadakos, 67, was sentenced to more than 10 years for trafficking narcotics.

A Danbury man was sentenced to more than 10 years in jail for trafficking cocaine and oxycodone.

Demetrios “Jimmy” Papadakos, 67, was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Judge Warren Eginton for heading a Fairfield County drug trafficking ring.

The Drug Enforcement Agency’s Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and Norwalk Police Department investigated the ring for a year, said Tom Carson, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney for District of Connecticut office.

Papadakos helped purchase and distribute more than 6,8000 30 mg oxycodone pills and more than a kilogram of cocaine. He would travel to Florida and purchase the drugs at wholesale prices. He also traveled to New York and received prescriptions from a corrupt doctor that owed him a large sum of money.

He also obtained oxycodone from people with legitimate prescriptions that would sell the pills in exchange for cash.

Papadakos was detained since his arrest in May 2012. He has had six federal felony convictions, and numerous state convictions over a 40 years.
