12/28/12

On 12/28/12 there were four incidents involving paramedics. The first two involved unit 292 which, I believe, is the fly car stationed at Glenbrook overnight. I do not understand why only a fly car responds overnight whereas an ambulance responds during the daytime. The first call was for abdominal pain and paramedics responded in 10 minutes. Including dispatch, the response time was 13 minutes. The second call was for unknown problems. At first only Post responded but, after being on scene for 6 minutes, Post called for paramedics. After dispatch, paramedics responded in 9 minutes but this was 26 minutes after CMED received the initial call. When paramedics are called after Post is on scene the added and wasted time is not captured in the response time. You have to use the dispatch time from when CMED is first called to accurately portray the true response time. Stay tuned. Walter Casey.
