Connecticut Weather Forecast: 2 More Snow Chances This Week

It's shaping up to be another busy weather week in Connecticut with some big changes on the way.

There are two chances for snow in Connecticut’s work-week weather forecast. Some very light, nuisance snow is expected during Tuesday morning’s commute, but it will change quickly to some rain showers later in the morning. The immediate coast won’t see any real accumulation, while areas inland and northern sections of the state may see up to an inch of snow.

While this won’t be a significant storm, the timing does pose concerns and could lead to a slippery Tuesday morning commute. After Tuesday’s snow/rain ends, some of the coldest air of the season moves in, and that could set the stage for more snow on Friday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Hartford and Tolland counties saying, “A period of light freezing rain is possible across northern CT andnorthwest RI Tuesday morning, perhaps impacting part of the Tuesday morning rush hour. While if this occurs it should be short-lived, but it only takes a trace of ice to result in hazardous travel.”

Also snow squalls are forecast in northern Connecticut Tuesday night into Wednesday with winds gusting up to 50 mph on Wednesday, the weather service states.

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said, “Here’s your Monday instacast! Some sun today with 30s to near 40. A messy mix to rain tomorrow. Brutal wind & wind chill Wednesday. Some snow later Friday! WOW, it’s a busy pattern.”

Fox 61 Meteorologist Matt Scott said, “A little clipper Tuesday brings serious COLD Wed-Friday! And, more snow by the end of the work week????. Tuesday AM Issues are mainly snow changing to a mix to rain for much of the state, with limited accumulation in the Litchfield Hills.”
