
Darien, CT. January 8, 2014 – The Darien High School Ski Team raced in frigid 6 degree temperature with good snow conditions in its first race of this new season against Amity, Greenwich, Hopkins, Litchfield, Laurelton Hall, and New Canaan at the Mt. Southington Ski Area on January 8. The Darien Girls had four racers finishing in the top ten led by Co-captain Katharine Graham, who was the second fastest girl on the mountain, and Co-captain Taylor Hart joined by new to the team Junior Kyla Pech and Freshman Maggie Skeats.
The Girls Varsity Team with a time of 315.79 finished 1st defeating Amity 356.66, Greenwich 325.30, and Laurelton Hall 404.10. The Boys Varsity Team with a time of 308.83, finished 4th defeating Hopkins 335.58, and Litchfield DSQ, while losing to Amity 300.90, Greenwich 288.07, New Canaan 300.08.
Girls’ times this week were Katharine Graham 49.62 (Co-captain), Kyla Pech 50.75, Taylor Hart 51.04 (Co-captain), Maggie Skeats 51.25, Carly Schoudel 55.09, Caitlin Keady 58.04, Madison Maier 63.07, Maggie Reilly 64.00, Lila Seeman 66.42, Adrianna Dziedzic DSQ.

Boys’ times this week were Peter Del Col 46.77 (Co-captain), Brooks Daley 48.26, Chris von Stuelpnagel 52.39, Graham Skeats 53.08 (Co-captain), Mac Forbes 53.85, Sam Arrix 54.48, Seth Canaday 57.53, Gray Kline 58.44, Slater Lovegrove 59.49, Trevor LaVecchia 67.00.
Coaches Brian Zeyer and Marc Power are leading the teams again this year. Coach Zeyer said, “We lost sixteen team members to graduation last year and twelve of them were boys. The boy’s team is rebuilding this year and returning Senior and Co-captain Peter Del Col and Freshman Books Daley led them to a respectable finish. The girl’s team started off strong with three wins and no losses.”
