Each year, First County Bank Foundation accepts student applications from the beginning of the year until the end of April.
The award is named after Richard E. Taber who retired as chairman and CEO of First County Bank in March 2011. It is in recognition of Taber’s 40-plus-year career at the bank and innumerable contributions to the community.
"Each year we are impressed by the dedication and commitment of the Richard E. Taber Citizenship Award applicants," said First County Bank Chairman and CEO Robert J. Granata, who is also the president of the First County Bank Foundation.
"We are proud to award scholarships to these three hardworking local students and applaud their achievements. All of us at First County Bank wish them much success," Granata added.
Taber is a current member of the board of directors for the bank.
"It is with great pride that these scholarships are awarded in my name, and I know without a doubt, that these students will go on to a successful future," Taber said in a news release.
