New Location, Opening Date Announced For Darien Post Office
After several months at a temporary location, the Darien Post Office will soon open a new, permanent space.

DARIEN, CT — After several months at a temporary location, the Darien Post Office will open up in a permanent spot next week.
According to an announcement from the United States Postal Service, the Darien Post Office will open in the Goodwives Shopping Center, 25 Old Kings Highway North, Suite 18, on May 24 at 8:30 a.m. A formal ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for May 31 at 10 a.m.
Retail services and P.O. Boxes were moved from the old facility on Corbin Drive to the Noroton Heights Post Office last November.

The move came after Baywater Properties, the developer for the Corbin District project, tried to remove the post office as a tenant. Baywayter said the USPS had stayed illegally after their lease expired on Sept. 30, 2022, the Darien Times reported.
P.O. Box customers are instructed to pick up their P.O. Box mail up until May 23 at 2 p.m. at the Noroton Heights Post Office, 264 Heights Road.

All mail not picked up will be securely moved to the new location. Customers will retain their P.O. Box numbers but will need to pick up a new key at the retail window during regular retail hours.
Customers are instructed to provide a government issued ID to receive the new key.
There will be no change in delivery routes and no interruption of service for customer door-to-door delivery, the USPS said.
Hours of retail operation at Darien Post Office are as follows: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
There are no Sunday retail hours, however, customers will have access to their P.O. Boxes 24/7.
