The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for all of southern Connecticut.

"Snow currently moving through the area may come down briefly heavy at times, reducing visibility to 1/4 mile or less. Accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are expected, with locally up to 3 inches
possible. When encountering the heavy snow, slow down, use headlights, and leave extra room between you and the car in front of you," the weather service said.

The snow should end by midday, and temperatures will approach 40 degrees but it will feel colder with the wind chill factor. There is a 20 percent chance of snow on Thursday and Friday and the weekend look sunny with temperatures around 40 degrees.

"At one point a disturbance later (Thursday) was going to clip CT as it passes to our south (heading out to sea), but now it appears to be a miss. Because of this, tomorrow is now brighter and milder with highs near 40. Friday, we end the week with abundant sunshine and highs between 40 and 45," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists.

And there is a chance for more snow on Monday and Tuesday.

"Also, we’ll be monitoring the potential for snow Monday into Tuesday. There is a lot of uncertainty this far out regarding timing, and potential impacts... so stay tuned!" said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists.
