The Urban Archeologist: You’ll never guess what’s inside this case...

Here is a mystery to solve. This is what I am often presented with as I walk through a garage, attic or basement. The items for sale are organized and disorganized and I try to look at each waiting to be entertained and hopefully inspired.

The single image above shows what came into my line of sight after 45 minutes of pouring over an assortment of items. I admit, sometimes I will buy something because there is nothing else and I want something to show for my efforts.

Because I can write about anything I picked this up for the same reason anyone else would. “What is that?” I thought to myself. After opening it, and seeing how obvious it was, I felt as though I had found my inspiration:

Round and tan, the case is neat

It hides that in which darkness finds defeat

So crimped and crumpled you wouldn’t think it right

To reveal a tiny portable Hi-Intensity light.

The thing I find so frustratingly common among the gadgets I take home is how fewer and fewer people know their intent, age, origin, and path to market. Click here to see more images and a
