Durham Man Charged with Stealing Horse in Naugatuck: Police

Naugatuck police say the accused sold the horse without the owner's consent.

Naugatuck, CT - A Durham man has been charged with illegally selling a horse that didn't belong to him, police said.

Naugatuck police said David Hill, 57, of Higginum Road in Durham, turned himself in on an arrest warrant on July 13.

Police said they investigated a larceny complaint filed on May 13 involving the alleged theft of a horse.

Hill was boarding the victim's horse at stables he maintains and the victim, who owned the horse, stopped paying Hill for boarding the horse, police said.

Hill then sold the horse without the owner's consent, police said.

He is charged with sixth-degree larceny and released on a promise to appear in Superior Court, Waterbury on July 20.
