Animal Control Looking for Unregistered Dogs in East Hampton

Random home surveys have begun.

East Hampton Animal Control Officers have begun conducting random home surveys looking for all unregistered dogs in East Hampton. The random surveys will continue through the end of the year and will include licensing and vaccination confirmations.

As a reminder, each owner or keeper of a dog of six months of age or older must obtain a license in the Town Clerk’s Office on or before June 30, annually, or at such time as the dog becomes six months old or 30 days upon receipt of a new dog. A rabies certificate signed by a veterinarian indicating the date of the vaccination and the duration of the immunity must be provided at the time of licensing as well as proof of alteration (neutering or spaying). The license is $8 for each neutered male or spayed female and $19 for each un-neutered male dog and each un-spayed female dog. A $1 late fee for each month or fraction thereof for failure to obtain a license prior to June 30 will be imposed.

Additional Animal Control information can be obtained on the town web site at www.easthamptonct.gov under Town Departments/Animal Control. If you have any questions regarding the random surveys from Animal Control, please contact the Town Manager’s office at 860-267-4468.
