East Hampton Fire Department Responds to Fire in Moodus

Two animals perish in morning barn blaze.

A fully-involved structure fire broke out at approximately 7:20 a.m. Tuesday morning, when a barn located at 60 Trowbridge Road in Moodus went up in flames.

The East Haddam Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene, along with mutual-aid from the towns of Haddam, Haddam Neck, East Hampton, Colchester and Lyme.

Firefighters and a full fleet of trucks, including water tankers from all of the towns, worked for over an hour and a half before the blaze was finally knocked down.

The barn, owned by Leesa and William Mitchell of the same address, is a total loss. Unfortunately, two animals, one goat and a goose, perished in the fire.
