East Hampton Firefighters Extinguish Garage Fire

No one was injured in the small blaze at a home on Lake Pocotapaug.

Firefighters responded to a minor garage fire at 33 Bay Road in East Hampton on Wednesday afternoon and were able to extinguish the fire "within 30 seconds," said Fire Chief Paul Owen.

No one was injured in the fire, which appears to have started in a garbage bag inside the one-car detached garage. Owen said it's unclear what started the fire and that the town's fire marshal, who was on the scene, is investigating.

The fire was called in around 5:15 p.m.
