East Hampton Man Arrested on Larceny Charge

Allegedly stole pocketbook from senior citizen in front of Stop & Shop

 

John Paul "JP" Fournier of 45 Forest St. in East Hampton was arrested by East Hampton Police on Feb. 3 on sixth-degree larceny and disorderly conduct charges.

According to police, Fournier's arrest stems from an incident on Jan. 15 in which he stole the pocketbook of an 86-year-old woman as she was loading groceries into her car. The woman's car was parked in a handicap parking spot in front of Stop & Shop. The incident occurred at about 1 p.m.

Fournier, 23, was in custody on unrelated charges at the time of his arrest. He was arraigned at Superior Court in Middletown and held on $25,000 bond in this case.

Fournier is also responsible for another crime of the same nature that occurred on Jan. 16 at the Stop & Shop in Glastonbury, police said. Glastonbury Police hold an arrest warrant for Fournier in that case.

Fournier has several other charges against him pending in court, including larceny and criminal mischief, both misdemeanors, and third-degree burglary, a felony.
