Former Portland First Selectman Arrested

Kalinowski caught in cyber sting.

Edward L. Kalinowski, a former five-term first selectman and police officer in Portland, was arrested on Sept. 2 in Florida as part of a cyber sting operation involving minors.

Kalinowski, 59, served as first selectman from 1993-2003. An Independent, he did not seek a sixth term and later moved to Ocala, Fla.

Kalinowski is charged with use of computer to seduce or solicit a child, traveling to meet or lure a child for sex, and use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.
