Four-Vehicle Accident in East Hampton

A four-vehicle accident on North Maple Street in East Hampton Thursday night resulted in four people being taken by ambulance to Marlborough Medical Center.

The accident occurred around 8:40 p.m. with police and fire personnel responding. The most severely damaged vehicle was an SUV, the first to crash and set off a chain reaction. The lead car came to rest against a utility pole.

Fire officials on the scene said the extent of the injuries was unknown. The husband of one of the drivers said his wife appeared to be fine except for some minor injuries, including one sustained when the air bag deployed.

The accident is under investigation.
