Portland Property Revitalization Project Collapses After Failing to Win Vote
The vote ended an almost 18-month effort to gain approval.

PORTLAND, CT – A proposed project to revitalize the former Elmcrest property has been withdrawn after collapsing Wednesday, the Middletown Press reported.
A Danbury developer withdrew his proposal after failing to win a vote by the Board of Selectmen, according to the Middletown Press. Winning the vote would have meant the board pledged to support seven-year tax exemption for the project.
The project was proposed to cost $30 million, the Middletown Press. The vote ended an almost 18-month effort to gain approval.
