Report: Family of Missing East Hampton Man Says It Will Launch Own Search

Fire officials have reportedly called off the search for a 37-year-old East Hampton man who went missing after jumping into the Connecticut River during a swim on Sunday.

But, according to The Hartford Courant, the family of Dariusz Czarnota said they plan to conduct their own search beginning 8 a.m. on Tuesday as to the man's wherabouts.

The newspaper reported that fire officials announced they've suspended the search for Czarnota, who officials presumed drowned.

While the two were swimming to a boat moored in the middle of the river, the brother turned around and realized Czarnota wasn't there and that he had gone under the water, state police said.

Search efforts carried on from Sunday to Monday, however Czarnota's body has yet to be recovered. Multiple local and state agencies assisted in the search effort, as well as the U.S. Coast Guard.
