Woman Injured in ATV Accident

Injuries serious as LifeStar Helicopter called to East Hampton.

 

The East Hampton Police Department is investigating an accident Saturday afternoon involving a 37-year old woman who was riding a four-wheel, All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV).

The woman's name is not being released until family notifications have been made.

According to police, the woman was traveling north on Crestwood Drive around 3:45 p.m. and attempted to take a left turn onto Chapman Road while riding a 500cc ATV. Upon turning left, she lost control and flew off the ATV landing in the travel portion of Chapman Road. The ATV came to rest close by on the south side of the road.

The woman suffered serious injury including head trauma. Police said she was not wearing a helmet at the time. She was transported to Hartford Hospital by LifeStar Helicopter where she is in critical condition. No other vehicles or passengers were involved.
