East Haven Officials Stay Silent on Response to Sexual Harassment Complaint

The sexual harassment complaint was filed by a town hall employee in July.

Attorney’s representing Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr. and the town of East Haven have chosen to stay silent on their response to a state Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities sexual harassment complaint filed by a town hall employee, the New Haven Register reports.

The employee’s attorney John R. Williams confirmed the town had submitted its response to the CHRO complaint filed on July 28. The complaint required a response within 30 days.

According to the Register, state law does not require CHRO complaints to be made available to the public, leaving it to the discretion of the parties involved as to whether certain documents will be shared with the public.

The CHRO complaint filed by the employee alleges that Maturo made inappropriate sexual advances and comments towards her.
