Local Author Showcase at Hagaman Memorial Library!

Several authors from the local New Haven County area will talk with patrons and sell copies of their books at this enjoyable showcase at Hagaman Memorial Library, 227 Main Street this Saturday, October 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.! Please join us! Refreshments will be served.

Featured authors will include: Leo Marino, author of The house on Greene Street : life and times of a first generation Italian American and Wooster Place, Chrstine Polanco, author of a non-fiction religious memoir called, Walking in God's Divine Order, Maria Rivera, author of Chasing the Wind and Chasing Shadows, Stephen M. Cuddy, author of Learn to Manage Depression Using Health Rocks, Albert Ruggiero will showcase his wife Carol Ruggiero's book, Pearls from Carol, Mathew Duman will showcase his two books, An Education in the Grotesque: The Gargoyles of Yale University and The Grotesque 10: Amazing Architectural Sculpture from Ten American Colleges & Universities, Richard Friswell, author of Merchants of Deceit: Opium, American Fortune& the China Trade, Robert Conard, author of the young adult trilogy, The Saga of Kee, Cathrene Youngquist, co-author of the children's book, Three Billygoats Gruff and Mean Calypso Joe and others, Christopher Hemingway, library staff member and author of The Day the Bull Lived: And Other Poems, and Sandra Enders, author of Meditations on the Rosary: Scripture, Psalms, Illustration, Guided Imagery, The Comprehensive Addiction Recovery Act of 2016: Taming America's Opioid Monster, and Meditations on the Pentateuch: Scripture and Illustration. Charles Rosenay, author of The Book of Top 10 Horror Lists and True Ghost Stories of Connecticut will be present. Charles Harvey, author of the novel Xylene will be present as well as Award-winning author, Jason Marchi. Mr. Marchi is the author of Ode on a Martian Urn, The Legend of Hobbomock: The Sleeping Giant (Children's book), Venus Remembered, The Island People, The Growing Sweater (Children's book), and The Man in the Black Frock Coat will also be present.

There will be Children's book authors present to do short readings to children downstairs in the library's DeMayo conference room during the showcase. The schedule of children's authors will be:

10:30 am: Kimberly Behre Kenna - Artemis Sparkle and the Sound Seekers Brigade (Middle Grades/Ages 8-12)
11:00 am: Richard Friswell - "Chippy's Excellent Day" (Ages 8-12)
11:30 am: Cathrine Youngquist - Three Billygoats Gruff and Mean Calypso Joe (picture book)
12:00 pm: Robert Conard - The Saga of Kee (Young Adult trilogy)
12:30 pm: Jason Marchi - tentative - The Growing Sweater (picture book)
1:00 pm: Judith Smith - The Day the Earthworms (and their friends) Took Over (picture book and craft)

Some of these are pre-publication and several will be available for purchase, Subject to change. Come for any or all sessions - reservations not required.

Extra parking for evening and weekend library events is available in the East Haven Town Hall parking lot on 250 Main Street (across the street from the library), in the KeyBank parking lot next to the library (after 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays and after 5:00 p.m. on weekdays) and in the Stop and Shop lot behind the library, accessible from Messina Drive.
