The latest installment of the Hidden Gems series makes a stop at a farm off a state road.

ELLINGTON/SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — The latest journey to a hidden gem in Hartford and Tolland counties takes us the the Ellington-South Windsor line, where a farm featuring fresh-cut meats, a petting zoo and an ice cream stand are tucked away from a spot along state Route 74.

Right now, the petting zoo is open and it features several sheep who love to call out greetings when visitors arrive. The pigs just had babies and will be out when the piglets can be weaned, owners said. The pond is also accessible for fish feeding. Guests are currently on the honor system in terms of proper distancing.

The butcher shop is also currently open for curbside pickups by appointment (860-896-0888). The menu is featured on the farm Facebook page.

Normally the ice cream shop is open this time of year. Owners have yet to schedule an opening.
