ENFIELD, CT —Seven individuals and a highly successful team became the latest members of the Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame during its 24th annual induction dinner Friday night at the Oak Ridge Country Club in Feeding Hills, Mass.

Attended by nearly 200 guests, the event opened with the traditional "Parade of Champions," in which more than two dozen past honorees were introduced prior to the newest electees. After some opening comments and a proclamation from the town of Enfield, a special award and the team induction took place.

Ed Mantenuto, original ice hockey coach at Enrico Fermi High School, was presented the George Daly Special Recognition Award for his installation of blue collar work ethic, hustle and determination in his players, which became the hallmark of the Falcon program.

The 2001 Enfield High School baseball team, which posted the best finish of any diamond nine in Raider history by placing second in Class L, received the team induction award. Fifteen players from that team joined seven coaches and staff members in accepting the honor.

Following dinner, and a moment of silence in memory of the late Kirk Parker, six individual honorees took center stage. Each was accompanied to the platform and presented his or her plaque by a previous Hall of Fame honoree who had significance in the inductee's career.
