Blizzard Slams Enfield: Police Ask Drivers To Stay Home
Police are urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel to keep roads clear for plows and emergency crews.
ENFIELD, CT — Local and state officials are urging residents to stay off the roads as a powerful blizzard impacts northern Connecticut.
The Enfield Police Department issued a winter weather alert asking residents to avoid travel during the incoming snowstorm unless it is absolutely necessary. Police said limiting traffic helps keep roads clear for plows and ensures emergency crews can respond quickly.
Town Offices Closed, Parking Ban, Trash Delayed
The Town of Enfield has a parking ban in effect from 12 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, through 7 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24. Vehicles must be removed from roadways during that time or they are subject to towing at the owner’s expense.

Trash pickup scheduled for Monday, Feb. 23, has been canceled, resulting in a one-day delay for the remainder of the week.
All town offices are closed Monday, Feb. 23, due to the winter storm. The closure includes Town Hall, libraries, the Senior Center, Recreation and all nonessential departments not directly involved in public safety or snow removal.

Governor Declares State Of Emergency
Ned Lamont declared a statewide state of emergency as the storm brought heavy snowfall, high winds and whiteout conditions across much of the state. Forecasts call for 1 to 2 feet of snow in parts of the Northeast.
Regional Power Outages And Flight Disruptions
According to Eversource, tens of thousands of customers across its service territory have lost power due to heavy snow and strong winds. Meanwhile, Bradley International Airport remains open, but more than 90 percent of flights were proactively canceled as snow removal operations continue.
