The single most pressing issue facing our town is: Enfield JFK Committee will be working to keep the JFK renovation project on time and under budget. This is a important project to the community for the tax payers of Enfield. The total cost of the project is $84 million of which the state will be paying about 70 percent which is $58,800,000. I will be working very closely with the JFK team, as I did with the high school renovation team. The Construction Manager at Risk is Gilbane Construction Company (they are the same construction company that did Enfield High School), JCJ Architecture which has worked in Enfield before and Construction Solutions Group who is the owner's representative who also worked on Enfield High School. Together it is important to keep the lines of communication open with the community, as this school will be occupied during construction, as was Enfield High. I feel my experience as Building Superintendent will help stay on top of all of the issues that could arise as construction begins and throughout the entire process.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post: Critical differences help make better decisions. Who wants to work with a group of people who all "sing from the same book." New ideas, difference of opinion make for better outcomes. I believe that all the candidates seeking this position are doing it for the right reason, for the people of Enfield.
List other issues that define your campaign platform: Partnership, innovation, forward thinking, creativity, management, adaptation, safety, leadership, and most importantly, communication.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job: Spent 27 years at Asnuntuck Community College in charge of various large projects and spent 5 years on the Enfield High Building Committee and 2 years on the town council. In addition, I am also on the Joint Facilities Committee.
The best advice ever shared with me was: Always be thoughtful.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your position: Chairman - Social Services Subcommittee, Joint Facilities Committee Member, JFK Building Committee - Liaison,
School Athletic Fields Building Committee, Enfield High School Building Committee, JFK Pre-Ref Committee - Vice Chair, Enfield Fourth of July Town Celebration - Director, Enfield Republican Town Committee member, Enfield Republican Town Committee District 3 captain, Volunteer at the Scantic River Clean-up. On November 5th I ask you to vote for me, Joe Muller, and allow me to continue on the Town Council with the Republican team (on Row B) for the Town Council because I have the education and experience to continue to work for you and I'm ready for the challenge.
