ENFIELD, CT — A popular fish market in Enfield is taking the high road with a weird batch of weekend swordfish and the community is backing — and hailing — the business move.

"It has come to our attention that some of you were very disappointed in the swordfish that was sold on Friday and Saturday of this week,"Cold Harbor Seafood owner Joe Lanzieri said in a social media post. "First let me tell you that it is perfectly safe to eat and was super fresh."

That was followed by a "however," and Lanzieri added, "For some reason, some of it had a strange mushy consistency."

He said the batch "looked great" and was from Cold Harbor's usual dock in Boston.

"We'd have no way of knowing the consistency would be like that as we did not have a chance to sample it, which we do much of the time," he said. "If you experienced this with the swordfish you bought this Friday the 22nd or Saturday the 23rd, then please feel free to stop in for a full refund on your sword purchase."

Lanzieri said the business was pursuing a refund from the docks as well.

"As always, Cold Harbor stands behind all of our products. If you aren't happy then we aren't happy," Lanzieri said.

The announcement was received well and a plethora of positive comments followed.

"No one else in business today has this level of integrity and transparency. Kudos to Cold Harbor folks," one said.

"You folks truly are the best. Can’t imagine getting fish from anywhere else," said another.

Another comment suggested Cold Harbor give "lessons in customer service."

Even the folks who gave the business a heads up didn't want a refund.

"We don’t need a refund just reached out so you would know. It's great to have a place that actually cares about us as customers. We love you guys," the comment said.
