Enfield Makes Top 5 of Initial Girls Basketball Poll
The Eagles won seven of their first eight games to open the season.

ENFIELD, CT — A season whose fortunes seemed in question due to the preseason loss of a top-flight senior has started out well for the Enfield High School girls basketball team, as reflected by its high ranking in the initial poll of coaches and media members.
The Eagles are 7-1 entering the week of Jan. 8, with three games on tap between Monday and Friday, highlighted by a repeat appearance in the HoopHall Classic at Springfield College Friday night. Enfield enters the week ranked fifth in the balloting.
Mercy (7-0) and New London (8-0) tied for the top spot in the initial round of polling, garnering six first-places votes apiece.
