Enfield State Rep Says He Will Take Responsibility for DUI Arrest

David Alexander was stripped of a legislative leadership role following his arrest.

David Alexander, the Enfield state representative who was arrested on drunken driving charges, says he ‘s ready to get back to work.

In a statement release Friday, Alexander said he took responsibility for his action that led to his Feb. 28 arrest on a driving under the influence charge in Windsor Locks, according to NBC Connecticut.

The 33-year-old Democrat from the 58th District, has been stripped of his legislative leadership duties since his arrest. Democratic House Speaker Brendan Sharkey removed Alexander from his vice-chairmanship of the Government Administration and Elections Committee.

In a statement Friday, Alexander said, “I intended to resume my duties at the Capitol and get back to work fighting for the priorities of the residents of Enfield.”
