Enfield Town Council Approves $124 Million Budget
The budget will mean a property tax increase.

Property taxes in Enfield will increase by 0.76 mills for the 2015 fiscal year with the Enfield Town Council’s approval Thursday night of the proposed $124.7 million budget.
By a vote of 7-4, the council approved the budget that increases spending by $4.7 million over the current budget, according to The Courant. The town’s tax rate will increase to 29.89 mills per $1,000 of assessed valuation when the budget goes into effect July 1.
The budget includes $65.9 million for the Board of Education, which is an increase of $1.8 million from the current budget. Earlier this week, the Enfield school board voted to not renew a contract to continue providing armed guards in town public schools, saving nearly $800,000.
