Local Teams Still In the Hunt For State Titles

Ten high school teams from Patch towns in Hartford and Tolland counties are still competing in state semifinals or championship games.

As the high school spring sports season nears its conclusion, 10 teams from Patch towns in Hartford and Tolland counties still have a shot at capturing state championships in baseball, softball, lacrosse and volleyball. Seven of those teams are scheduled to compete in semifinal competition Wednesday, with one more semifinal coming up Thursday. Two teams from the region have already qualified for state title games.

BASEBALL

Class L - semifinals

  • No. 10 Guilford vs. No. 11 Wethersfield, Wed., 3:30 p.m. at Dunkin Donuts Park-Hartford
  • No. 1 Windsor vs. No. 12 Branford, Wed., 7 p.m. at Dunkin Donuts Park-Hartford

SOFTBALL

  • No. 5 Granby Memorial vs. No. 9 St. Joseph, Thurs., 4 p.m. at DeLuca Field-Stratford

Class S - semifinals

  • No. 1 Stafford vs. No. 4 Wamogo, Wed., 4 p.m. at DeLuca Field-Stratford

BOYS LACROSSE

Class L - semifinals

  • No. 6 Ridgefield vs. No. 7 Glastonbury, Wed., 7:30 p.m. at Fairfield Prep

Class S - semifinals

  • No. 2 Somers vs. No. 3 East Catholic, Wed., 3:30 p.m. at Suffield HS
