ENFIELD, CT — An altercation involving a man and two dogs at the Red Roof Inn Friday night resulted in the man's arrest on several charges, including first-degree maliciously wounding an animal, according to police.

Thomas Robinson, 51, of Manchester, was also charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, first-degree criminal trespass and violation of a protective order. He was held in lieu of $20,000 bond, Police Chief Alaric Fox said.

Around 9:34 p.m., police were dispatched to the motel upon a report that a man had been bitten by a dog. Robinson was found in a room with an injury to his arm. The dog that bit him was also located, having suffered a stab wound to its neck, and a second dog was also found, having suffered minor injuries from the first dog that occurred during the altercation, Fox said.

Robinson was found to be in violation of two active protective orders that prohibited him from having contact with another person who was in the room with him. He was also in possession of an illegal stiletto-style knife which had been used to stab the first dog, Fox said.

Robinson received treatment at a local hospital, and both dogs were taken to a veterinary center for care. The first dog’s injuries were serious, Fox said.
