Deep River Roasters Opens In Centerbrook This Weekend
Centerbrook welcomes Deep River Roasters to the Witch Hazel Factory building this weekend.

CENTERBROOK, CT — What started as a hobby to fulfill his own yearning for the perfect cup of joe, has now grown into a full-fledged successful, expanding business for Matt Resnisky owner of Deep River Roasters.
Ditching his corporate sales job and delving headfirst into a hobby turned business endeavor, was a scary thing for local Deep River resident Resnisky, but one he has wholeheartedly embraced.
“Four years ago, this was not even on my radar and now here I am opening my first retail space after roasting and selling my own coffee for the past three years,” said Resnisky with a smile. “It’s kind of unbelievable!”

His journey began on the internet looking for better coffee. He then started roasting his own beans in his popcorn popper in the kitchen. That quickly moved to a larger apparatus on his porch and from there he was all in and sent himself to the School of Coffee, in Vermont.
“This is my only hobby that my wife has benefitted from,” said Resnisky jokingly.

For the past three years, he has been growing his business and his coffee is currently sold in 28 locations throughout Connecticut and one location in Rhode Island.
“I have been thinking about opening a retail space for a while and I was approached to do so in Deep River, but it was just down the street from the Nest Coffee Shop and they sell my coffee (a specialty roast Resnisky makes just for them) and I didn’t want to take business away from a non-profit, so when the Witch Hazel people got in touch with me, I knew it was the right space.”
Resnisky will be opening, the Deep River Roaster’s retail space at the Witch Hazel Factory in Centerbrook, located adjacent to the Essex Steam Train.
With an adept knowledge of coffee and all of its unique qualities and varied roasting processes, Resnisky is excited about the first-weekend launch, which will be this Saturday and Sunday, March 6 and 7 at 6 Main Street Centerbrook in the Witch Hazel Factory building. His doors will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and in addition to his fresh roasted coffees, he will be selling scrumptious scones from Eight Mile Meadow Bakery in Deep River, as well as freshly baked bagels from Cohen's in Madison. Seating will be available outside on the large patio.
Centerbrook is excited to welcome this new business to its historic area. Take some time this weekend to stop and smell the coffee, and support local!
