Sentence Reduced For Man Who Killed Fairfield Tow Truck Driver: Report

Corey Iodice was killed when an intoxicated Dean Robert, of Weston, struck him in a crash on the Merritt Parkway in Trumbull in 2020.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The four-and-a-half-year prison sentence of Dean Robert, a 51-year-old Weston man convicted in a fatal drunk driving crash, was reduced by a year this week, the Connecticut Post reported.

Robert was convicted in June 2022 in connection with the 2020 crash that killed Fairfield tow truck driver Corey Iodice, 58. At the time of the crash, Iodice was loading a disabled vehicle onto his flatbed tow truck on the Merritt Parkway in Trumbull.

Superior Court Judge Tracy Lee Dayton said that while Robert has done a lot of good things for fellow inmates during his incarceration, because of the fatality, it would send the wrong message to release him too early.

Now, he will reportedly be released in 2025 instead of 2026.

Robert, who separately reached a $1.5 million settlement with Iodice's family, had reportedly sought to be released immediately.
