FAIRFIELD 6 TRUMBULL 8

The Giants took the loss as a wake up call and quietly outperformed week after week following the loss, finishing the season on a 3 game winning streak. Breaking down film, and studying scouting reports, the Giants coaching staff felt like they could prepare the JV's for a competitive battle in the finals, and OH BOY did the game end up being just that!

Trumbull opened the game by driving 55 yards, scoring on a 5 yard run off tackle and then hitting the PAT kick for a 2 pts, taking an early 8-0 lead. That's where things got really interesting. Fairfields game plan went into full effect on both sides of the ball. Defensively, the Giants turned to stone, stopping all Ranger attempts to move the chains for the remaining 3 quarters. Offensively, Fairfield squandered two red zon drives with lost fumbles going into halftime.

The JV's took the opening drive of the 2nd half 65 yards, capping the scoring drive with a 30 yard pass from QB Nick Morris to WR Finn Donelan down to the one yard line, where Morris popped over the goal line on a QB sneak and in for the score. The 2 pt. PAT was blocked, which ended up being the difference in the game! Fairfield would make one last scoring attempt with 3 mins remaining on the Trumbull 20 yard line. On a 4th and 6 play, Morris rolled right, eyeing Donelan once again streaking down the sideline. Lofting a precision pass, Donelan made an amazing full body stretch and dive attempt to pull in the ball. The ball rolled just off the his finger tips and bounced out of bounce, dashing all hopes of the ultimate upset for the scappy Giants team. The roar of the crowd turned to sighs, as the reality of a lost Championship set in. Outstanding players in the game where, Declan O'Hara, Liam Keezzer, Griffin Harding, Mike Innaimo, Max Spies, Jake Bermudez, and Aaron Sepot. Fairfield finished the season as the DII runner-up, ending a run of playing in 4 straight SCPW DII championship games.

Michael Loya found the end zone and the defense woke up. Sean Donohue, Ronny Labriasano, Jack Melbourne and Mac Gleason made key stops in the 2nd quarter giving the Giants momentum into the half. The Giants came out swinging in the second half with QB Tommy Kramer connecting with Joey D'Elia who scored but Milford responded, the score 30-14. Playing on emotions the Giants spread the offense out and Michael Loya scored on a 60 yard reception. The Coaches were proud the boys never gave up despite being down early to a very good Milford team.
