Fairfield Harvest Market & Dog Costume Parade Is This Weekend

In addition to the seasonal vendors and cute pooches, the event will include giant pumpkins, food trucks and a beer garden.

Via the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce: FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce is happy to announce that its annual fall Fairfield Harvest Market & Dog Costume Parade will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, on the Old Town Hall Green at the corner of Old Post and Beach roads.

The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce heralds the start of the fall season by welcoming clothiers, jewelers, artisans and others to the historic Old Town Hall Green to display their products and items to the public. Featuring more than 75 well-known and unique retail vendors, shoppers will enjoy music provided by DJ Scott while strolling among the booths.

From food items like local honey, delicious apple cider and barbecue sauce to rustic furniture and Adirondack chairs, shoppers will find a wide variety of retailers, including those selling jewelry, beauty products, clothing, household items and pet supplies.

In addition, the chamber is excited to include the popular Fairfield Farmer’s Market vendors, who are happy to participate, this being their last weekend in Fairfield to sell their produce and products before the season ends.

Free dog photos (11 a.m. to noon)

Free photo portraits for those dogs participating in the Dog Costume Parade. Come early for the photo session before the parade.

Dog Costume Parade (noon)

There will be a Dog Costume Parade, which will start promptly at noon. Line-up will begin at 11:30 a.m. (along the side of Old Town Hall, facing Beach Road). The first 50 dogs to line up will receive a free chamber dog bandana and chamber doggie treats. Free pet food samples and treats will be supplied by other vendors.

The dog costume parade event sponsor, the Pet Pantry Warehouse, will supply seven prizes: Best Family Costume, Owner-Pet Look Alike, Spookiest, Diva Dog, Most Creative, Fairfield Town Pride and Cutest.

Prizes will be announced around 12:45 p.m. in the front of Old Town Hall. Pooches are invited to dress up and be on their best behavior, as they prance along Old Post Road with their owner and families, showing off their most outlandish and traditional costumes.

Pooch rules include: animals must be current on vaccinations and flea and tick prevention, no aggressive animals or females that are in season, animals must be on a leash and in control by their owner at all times and pet owners must poop scoop after their animals.

Twin giant pumpkins

We are excited to announce that we will have two giant pumpkins this year for people to guess their weight. A prize will be awarded to each person who guesses closest to the actual weight.

Fairfield Rotary Club Beer Garden (noon to 4 p.m.)

Again this year, the Fairfield Rotary Club will host a Beer Garden featuring craft beers, held outside the Old Sun Tavern, behind the Fairfield Museum. Live Music by The Sabbs Brothers, warm pretzels, gift cards and more will be available. Tickets are $5 for people ages 21 and over.

Food trucks

Hungry? All day long, there will be food trucks, offering the best variety of local foods for everyone to enjoy, including: Fire and Rice, Bella Sera Ristorante, Little Kernel's Kettle Corn. Wings Over Fairfield and Snappy Dawgs.
