Fairfield Woman Struck By Bicyclist in Central Park, Listed in Critical Condition

A 59-year-old Fairfield woman is in critical condition after being struck by a bicyclist in Central Park in New York on Thursday, according to NBC Connecticut.
NBC reports that the woman fell to the ground and suffered head trauma and is being treated at New York-Presbyterian Hospitalās Weill Cornell Medical Center.
The bicyclist, a 31-year-old man, stayed at the scene and had minor shoulder and hand injuries, according to NBC.

Based on a preliminary investigation by the NYPD, the man was riding in the parkās bike lane and hit the woman while swerving to avoid other pedestrians, according to NBC.

Updated: The woman was identified as Jill Tarlov, 59, the wife of a CBS executive, according to multiple news outlets.
Some New York media outlets are reporting that Tarlov is brain dead and being kept alive by a ventilator.
āShe was my wife. She was the best,ā the womanās stunned husband, Michael Wittman, a CBS executive in New York, told the New York Daily News. āShe was walking in Central Park. We donāt know if she had the light or he didā¦.she was in the crosswalk.ā
The New York Post reports that the cyclist is Jason Marshall, who was pedaling a pricey Jamis Eclipse racing bike when he spotted Tarlov in the crosswalk at an intersection controlled by a traffic light, and according to the Postās sources he āwas riding in the car lane and yelling, āGet out of the way! Get out of the way!āāā
