Full Day Tuesday For Fairfield Public Schools: Superintendent

"We recognize that weather-related decisions are never easy." — Fairfield Superintendent Michael Testani

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield Public Schools will keep a regular schedule on Tuesday, March 3, and will have a full day of classes instead of dismissing students early, Superintendent Michael Testani announced.

In a message to the district Tuesday morning, Testani discussed the decision.

"After reviewing all available weather information and consulting with DPW, we have made the decision to proceed with a full school day," Testani wrote. "We recognize that weather-related decisions are never easy. Each situation presents unique factors, and conditions can vary significantly from one community to another. As a result, decisions in surrounding towns may differ from ours."

Some snow and icy conditions are forecast for much of Connecticut on Tuesday, but much of that is anticipated in the northern portions of the state.

Schools were canceled in Westport, Darien, Greenwich, Danbury and several other Connecticut communities on Tuesday, and some have called for an early dismissal.

Last week, Testani issued an apology to the district for not calling a snow day on Feb. 25, as commuting was difficult during the morning.

On Tuesday, he thanked the school community for its collective patience.

"We appreciate your understanding as we work to make the best possible decision with the safety of our students and staff as our top priority," Testani said.
