Hawk Attacks Woman In Fairfield: Police

Police are warning residents of a recent hawk attack in Fairfield.

FAIRFIELD, CT — It’s that time of year again where residents are being advised to keep an eye on the sky and be on the lookout for hawks. Fairfield Police are warning residents of a recent hawk attack in the Old Mill Road area. Police say an Old Mill Road resident was attacked by a hawk in her yard on March 19. Several hawk attacks have been reported in the area in recent years and police say the hawks generally target people, who are walking alone, in the head.

“Due to this most recent hawk incident and numerous previous hawk incidents, the State of Connecticut Wildlife Division of DEEP (Department of Energy and Environmental Protection) and The United States Department of Agriculture (Wildlife Division) has been contacted and will be responding to the Old Mill Road, Sycamore Lane and Henry Street area to remove the hawk/hawks,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “All past hawk incidents involve hawks flying in undetected from behind a single person walking, with the hawk targeting the head area of the walker.

“Please use caution and awareness when walking alone in the Old Mill Road, Sycamore Lane and Henry Street area. Animal Control will be patrolling the area on a regular basis.”
