Farmington High Boys First and Third Boats Post Victories
Indians boys and girls crew teams square off against Hanover and Glastonbury in Farmington Saturday.

The Farmington High boys first and third varsity eight boats, along with the girls first novice eight boat scored victories on Saturday in a regatta against Glastonbury and Hanover on the Farmington River.
The Indians first varsity eight boat followed up a strong showing against Guilford and Litchfield last week by placing first on Saturday in 4:00.85, just under eight seconds ahead of Hanover (4:08.50) and 11 seconds ahead of Glastonbury (4:12.10)
Farmington’s third varsity boat also scored a victory, finishing the 1,200 meter course in 4:18.89, three seconds ahead of Hanover’s third boat (4:21.85). Glastonbury placed third in 4:31.78, while Hanover’s fourth boat placed fourth.
The Farmington boys second varsity boat had a strong showing, placing second in 4:03.85 behind Hanover (4:00.36), but ahead of Glastonbury (4:14.75).
On the girls side, the Indians’ first novice eight boat finished second in its race (5:20.3), following Hanover (5:11:8) and edging out Glastonbury (5:34.2).
The Indians’ second varsity boat placed second (4:51.6) behind Hanover (4:44.8), but ahead of Glastonbury (4:58.2).
The Farmington girls first varsity eight boat had a strong performance, but placed third in 4:41.5, behind first-place Hanover (4:26.3) and second-place Glastonbury (4:32.5).
The result of the girls third varsity race was unclear due to issues between the Hanover and Glastonbury boats, but Farmington placed fourth in 5:24.8.
Farmington boys’ head coach Laura Butterfield wrote that it was an “awesome” day of racing.
