TRUMPF Inc. of Farmington is this week's "Murphy's Monday Manufacturer."

FARMINGTON, CT — U.S. Senator Chris Murphy announced Monday that TRUMPF Inc. of Farmington is this week’s “Murphy’s Monday Manufacturer.”
Founded in 1969, TRUMPF Inc. manufacturers fabricating machinery and laser technology for sheet metal processing. They are currently the largest manufacturer of fabricating equipment and industrial lasers in North America, and export their products to customers in all 50 states and more than 35 countries. TRUMPF Inc.’s 473 Connecticut workers build various types of lasers and machine tools out of their 400,000 square foot Farmington facility. The facility also boasts R&D laboratories, a technology center for demonstrations and application support, and a training center certified through The International Association for Continuing Education and Training. TRUMPF Inc. is the largest subsidiary of the German-based TRUMPF Group.
Between fiscal years 2016 and 2017, TRUMPF Inc. increased their sales revenue by nearly 14.7 percent to $577 million. Earlier this year, the Farmington manufacturer announced the development of new laser cutting machine nozzles, called Highspeed and Highspeed Eco, that – when compared to the use of standard nozzles – reduce gas consumption by up to 70 percent and double the sheet throughput.

TRUMPF Inc. currently offers two-year apprenticeships to seven students from Tunxis Community College, Naugatuck Valley Community College, and Manchester Community College. The manufacturer has awarded scholarships, and donated high-tech equipment and other funding to various local organizations, such as the University of Connecticut School of Engineering, Center for Next Generation Manufacturing, Central Connecticut State University, Connecticut Business & Industry Association, and Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology. They’ve also donated time and resources to many local social and charitable projects, including the Bristol Boys and Girls Club, Bristol Hospital, the Wadsworth Atheneum, Farmington Library, Connecticut Science Center, Hartford Symphony Orchestra, and more.
“TRUMPF Inc. is an impressive brand recognized by customers worldwide, and I’m thankful that they haven’t forgotten where their U.S. home is,”said Murphy. “They’re investing in new products, local students, and nearby organizations – that’s a big deal. These are exactly the kinds of investments that boost local manufacturing and help Connecticut families.”

“We are very proud of our long history in Connecticut,” said Burke Doar, Senior Vice President of TRUMPF Inc. “Connecticut has a history of being the home to many excellent manufacturing companies earning the international reputation for exceptional quality, design and innovation – characteristics we believe are reflected in TRUMPF’s products. The lasers and machine tools we produce here are of the highest quality.”
The manufacturing industry plays a crucial role throughout Connecticut communities, creating new jobs and accelerating our state’s economic recovery. Today, Connecticut’s 4,600 manufacturers account for 10% of the state’s jobs and 87% of the state’s total exports. In order to protect and grow manufacturing jobs in Connecticut, Murphy has introduced two pieces of legislation that aim to strengthen existing standards and prioritize the purchase of American-made goods, the 21st Century Buy American Act and the American Jobs Matter Act.
