Unionville Senior Legion Sweeps Wolcott

First Game:  Unionville 9 Wolcott 0

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, June 10 Unionville traveled to Wolcott for a season opening double-header.  David Kerlezja hurled a seven-inning shutout for the win in game one.  He faced 23 batters and gave up only two hits. 

Offensively, Unionville scattered ten hits. Kerlezja posted a double and a single. Max Spracklin hit 3 singles in 4 trips to the plate and Johnny Arcidiacono had two singles.  Mac Crispino, Travis Kozak and Harry Pacheco chipped in one apiece.

Second Game: Unionville 17 Wolcott 1

Mac Crispino, Chad Morin and Bailey Meccariello handled the pitching duties in game two and held Wolcott to one run.  Crispino allowed only three hits and struck out three in the first three frames. Morin gave up one hit and struck out two in one inning’s work. Meccariello faced ten batters in three innings; gave up no hits and struck out two.

Unionville’s bats lit up the scoreboard in innings three, four and five when they batted through the order each time and posted 16 runs.  Johnny Arcidiacono ripped a two run homer in the fourth plating Travis Kozak who led off the inning with a double. Not to be out done, Jeff Schweighoffer blasted a three run homer in the fifth driving in Arcidiacono and Crispino.

Jimmy Mulpeter posted two doubles and David Kerlezja had a double and a single. In total Unionville hitters notched 19 hits in the game.
