Police ID Couple Killed In Thanksgiving Crash In Bristol/Farmington

Investigators said the New York couple was traveling through Farmington, then crashed into the woods just after crossing the Bristol line.

BRISTOL/FARMINGTON, CT — Bristol police Monday have released the identities of the couple that was killed in a Thanksgiving Day car accident on the Bristol/Farmington town line.

According to the Bristol Police Department, Toby Cohen, 41, and Brook Cohen-Peltz, 37, both of Scarsdale, N.Y., were killed in the single-vehicle accident.

Also in the vehicle were three children between the ages of 2 and 6, who were not identified because of their age.

The children were injured in the crash and taken to the hospital, one via Life Star helicopter.

Early Monday afternoon, Bristol police released the identities of the victims, as well as additional details of the crash.

Bristol police, firefighters, and EMS personnel responded to the Bristol/Farmington town line for a serious crash that occurred on Stevens Street in Bristol, Bristol police said.

Upon arrival, a vehicle was located off of the roadway along the northern side of the road.

According to the BPD Monday, the initial investigation showed a westbound vehicle was traveling on Morea Road in Farmington, had crossed into Bristol on Stevens Street, east of Cherry Hill Drive, and left the roadway to the right.

The vehicle then hit a roadway sign and vegetation/trees, continuing through the woods until coming to a stop, police said.

Two adults were pronounced dead at the scene and three children were transported to area hospitals.
